๐ŸŒ  iOS Game

Name it. Then place it.

A country appears โ€” its name and its silhouette. You tap the continent it belongs to. Three lives, five right answers to clear a round, and a clock that gets meaner as you go.

Nothing to learn

How to play

No tutorial, no settings, no menus to wade through. Open it and you're already playing.

๐Ÿท๏ธ

A country appears

You get the name and the shape. Recognising the outline of Italy counts every bit as much as reading the word.

๐Ÿ‘†

Tap its continent

A real world map fills the bottom of the screen. Tap the landmass. Nothing to eliminate, nothing to guess between.

โฑ๏ธ

Beat the clock

Answer fast and you're paid more for it. Clear five and the round is yours โ€” then the clock tightens.

Country vs Continent โ€” Brazil's name and silhouette above the world map
Two ways to know

The shape is not a hint

Every question shows you a name and an outline, because knowing the shape of a country is geography. If you've never heard of Suriname but you know that wedge of the South American coast, you weren't guessing โ€” you knew something.

It's one question type and only one: country โ†’ continent. No capitals round, no flags round, no "which is bigger". Just the one thing, done properly.

Your audience

Meet the alien

It's looking at Earth and it has no idea what it's looking at. You do. It never speaks and it never congratulates you โ€” it just reacts, and the good ones are worth playing for.

The alien looking confused Confused Its home expression
The alien leaning in, curious Curious Clock running down
The alien looking impressed Impressed You got it right
The alien looking astonished Astonished You got a hard one
The alien looking deflated Deflated Ah. Not that one.
Country vs Continent โ€” a correct answer paying out
The scoring

Kyrgyzstan pays more than Brazil

Two things decide what an answer is worth: how quickly you got there, and how hard the country was. So the ones you're quietly proud of knowing actually show up in the number.

Clearing a round pays too, and each round pays more than the last โ€” but you don't get those until the run is over. They're what the end-of-run tally counts up, one round at a time, into a total you get to watch climb.

The map

Seven answers, one world

Every continent has its own colour, on the map and everywhere else in the game.

Country vs Continent โ€” personal records and best runs
Keep going

Two records worth chasing

Longest streak is how many you got right without a single miss โ€” it rewards not getting cocky. Highest-point run is your best total ever, and it rewards surviving the hard countries. They're different skills, and you'll be better at one of them.

Every run lands on your own ten-slot table of best runs, and knocking one off the bottom never gets old. There's no global leaderboard โ€” the only person your numbers are worth comparing to is you last week.

Free upside

Ten in a row opens a bonus round

Three questions, every one worth double, and nothing staked on entry. Get all three wrong and it costs you exactly nothing โ€” you go straight back to the run you were already having.

It's the one moment the game hands you something rather than asking for it.

Frequently asked

How much does Country vs Continent cost?

Nothing. It's free to download and the whole game is there from the first tap โ€” no paywall, no locked content, no subscription.

How many countries are in it?

All 195 sovereign states, and a further tier that adds dependencies and overseas territories on top for when the sovereign list stops being a challenge.

Why can't I ever answer Antarctica?

Because no sovereign state exists there. Antarctica is on the map and it's a real answer once territories are in play, but in the standard game nothing lives there to be asked about โ€” and we'd rather say that than invent ten countries to make the continents look even.

Is there a global leaderboard?

No, and that's deliberate. Your records are yours โ€” longest streak and highest-point run โ€” and the only person they're worth comparing to is you last week.

How do the ads work?

There's one, it's optional, and you're the one who asks for it: when a run ends you can watch a short video to get a life back and keep going. No banners, no ads between questions, and nothing ever sits between you and hitting Play again.

Which devices are supported?

iPhone and iPad running iOS 15 or later. It plays in portrait, designed for one hand on a bus. There's no Android version yet.

Do I need an internet connection?

No โ€” the game plays fully offline. A connection is only used for the optional rewarded video at the end of a run.

I found a bug โ€” how do I report it?

Please do! Head to our Support page, pick Country vs Continent, and tell us your device and iOS version.
